PDCs in France, team at work

Posted by Pascal Depienne over 13 years ago

The three first PDCs given in France by a wonderful team composed of one supervisor (diplomee) and Permaculture students preparing their diploma.

Three workshops were taught in France by a team composed of one supervisor, Pascal Depienne, and 7 students : Linnéa Lindstroem, Judith Lashbrook, Franck Nathié, Gurun Manrot, Anne Derouet, Vincent Audouin, Moilamain. This team is part of the french university of permaculture: "Université Populaire de Permaculture".

The first workshop was internal to the french association of permaculture Brin de Paille (straw of hay) to insure all of its actual administrators are "certified". This team had followed a first workshop of Non Violent Comunication and consensus decision. Transparency of budget and conscious price.

The second workshop was a more experimental participative workshop where the organization was self-managed by the students, a great inspiration for future workshops. The price of the workshop was thus much cheaper (200 euros + food)and students could pay consciously after a detailed description of the budget.

The third workshop was organized on a promising project in Mayenne which was visited in advance in order to adapt the design exercise more precisely to improve the quality of the design. Transparency of budget also included.

The result of this season is the increasing demand of students to prepare the diploma and a very satisfying program in general. The diversity in forms of the workshops helps us experiment and draw interesting conclusions. The diveristy of co-workers helped the quality of teaching and more importantly to learn a lot from each other's teaching strategies and content.

This is only a beginning but I thought it was an experience worth sharing...
