I read one of the featured upaes several weeks ago and was inspired to try kefir myself. I dont drink much milk but found in addition to milk kefir...water kefir. While searching for water kefir to purchase...I ran acroos ginger root plant.

While I am excited about the water kefir, the ginger root plant is my real "find". While visiting a friend in California many years aga (I was living in Alaska) I was given a bottle of Organinc Ginger Brew to try. It was tangy, not to sweet and a real bite of ginger. I have been looking for a recipe or way to make this but never found any ...until now!

Just finished trying a glass of the water kefir...with some organic lemon juice in it...very nice...a little bit of a yeast taste and smell to it. My ginger root plant is still "brewing" and it will be ready in a day or two.

I highly recommend these to anyone who is interested in self reliant kinds of thing...like you all here on this site :-)
