Water tanks, more growing space and infrastructure planning.

Posted by Fraser Roberts about 12 years ago

Final design plan is being rolled out as most of the site clearing has been completed.

We were very lucky to have been given two 5000l JoJo water tanks for our project! We are very grateful to the pensioner who donated his hard earned Euros to assist us in getting closer to the reality of self sustainability. This is a very welcome boost as we have been heavily focused on rubble removal and soil reclaimation, horrid work that has to be done!

While working the site, one has time to more closely access the feedback offered by the land. Our origanal plan has morphed slightly to fit in more with the patterns that are naturally revealing themselves.

We are also starting to make planter boxes from reclaimed timber, that we fill with our own compost and ready plated guilds of salad plants. The hope is that these sell and help fund the Permaculture Durbanville project.

Anybody with postive feedback and ideas is welcome to come round and shoot the breeze!

Here are a few pictures showing some of the paving and rubble being destroyed and removed. The swimming pool is now officiallly a "Water resovior"! About 60 (Yes Sixty!) cubic metres of concrete has been removed. More pictures to foolw soon.
