Permaculture is my passion for applied spiritual ecology. It seems to be the only viable path for human evolution. I love to study how different cultures and belief systems relate to their natural environment and design permanent ecological spiritual culture systems.
First exposure to permaculture was in 1994, volunteering at Gardens for Africa (GFA), a ghetto based permaculture project near Durban in Kwa-Zulu Natal province of South Africa. The project seemed to embody the dream of a new Rainbow Nation South Africa as embodied by Nelson Mandela, with abundance for all.
1996 - Australian travels, attended EcoVillage design workshop hosted by G.E.N. at Crystal Waters EcoVillage, and represented SA at IPC 6 in Perth. Woofed with EarthCare Education and Jangbung Gardens. Part of core team that developed GFA into permaculture training and resource center.
1997-2005 organised GEN Eco Village Design and Earthcare Education Teacher Training workshops in SA. Developed first community based tertiary permaculture qualifications in Landcare with University of Natal - Pietermaritzburg. Developed indigenous medicinal plant cropping models with indigenous Zulu healers at GFA. Developed seed security programs and training courses with PELUM network in SA. Worked on several SA schools permaculture programs and competitions. Organised and facilitated on many PDCs at Rustlers Valley farm and other locations across SA.
2005 Graduated from Thokoza lineage of Sangomas (African traditional medicine practioners) and developed models and training programs for urban food security and primary healthcare gardens as AIDS prevention and treatment strategy across SA.
2005-2009 became coordinator and dance chief for "Dance For The One" (DFTO), an international cross cultural and interfaith cermonial peace dance, which aims to connect all people across these traditional boundaries using cermonial dance, community building methods and plant medicine exchanges. Worked for DFTO in SA, Egypt-Sinai, Israel, Germany, Norway, Bosnia.
