About Fionn Quinlan

With a background in Creative, Alternative Education and International Development, with a Graduate Diploma in the former and a Masters in the latter, I have close to 10 years experience in both. Living and working in some of the world's more challenging areas where I have predominantly focused on educational empowerment, specialising in Paulo Freire's famous emancipatory 'conscientisation' process in rural India (Tamil Nadu), urban Ghana (Accra) and Cambodia (Sihanoukeville).

I came to be interested in permaculture through an informed friend I met in India. He bent my ear numerous times whilst we were both working on a sustainable livelihoods project and have now finally come to understand it's all encompassing systems approach. An approach which I feel ties together all of my prior learning and much, much more.

My current permaculture activities are only just beginning to take bloom. My small family and I have recently found some land in The Channon in Northern NSW where we are in the process of creating our permaculture dream. Our project site is called Djaning (the indigenous term from which the Channon is derived).
