(projects i'm following)
I was first introduced to permaculture through reading Linda Woodrow's fine book on Mandala gardening and subsequently adapting the idea to a very small scale suburban block.
Since then my wife and I have moved to approximately 3.5 acres of land on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, I have been researching many ideas of how to develop this land to facilitate living a more sustainable life and keep coming back to permaculture as the answer!! having practiced Permaculture for a few years, I finally undertook my PDC at SCPI taught by Rick and Naomi Coleman as well as Kat Lavers and Lex (thanks guys!!)
We are currently in ongoing development of a permaculture demonstration site which is used as a resource for permaculture education and also as the base for my Permaculture business, Sustainable Future Permaculture. SF Permaculture is part permaculture nursery as well as home to my consultancy, design and education services. The site will incoorperate various food growing systems as well as a food forest, a woodlot, animal rotations and water and energy harvesting systems.
Outside of my own site and consultancies, I work as a nurse and have previously held the postion of garden specialist in a school kitchen garden. Where I teach primary school kids how to garden (and slip in some permaculture into the lessons as well!)
I have completed a number of supplementary courses beyond my PDC including teacher training, advanced principles and reading the landscape and an advanced design course which constitutes credits towards a APT qualification. I also engaged in a teaching internship with Rick and Naomi at Southern Cross Permaculture Institute and now work as co-facillitator on their PDC.
I'm looking forward to using the knowledge I have gained to deliver high quality permaculture design and education going forwards.
