Nearly half way we've got into climate
It's getting seriously intense now and we're slowly getting down to understanding what climates, and climatic factors, effect the landscapes we live in.
We are starting to enter the second level of design, learning what are the climatic factors and how these effect the landscapes we may be called to design in. Geoff has made it clear various times that we should not necessarily think of designing our property as the design we have to submit at the end of the course.
We should try to design a plot that's not ours, to try to focus on design not being influenced by our personal views and necessities. We must not mistake the fact that design is not about making the world look like what we think it should, but it's about assembling the elements together in the right way for the particular climate, landscape and energy that can be transformed in to output by design, and all this, if we decide to become consultants, in relation to the clients assessments.
I think many of us though will not have, get, this opportunity by now, and so we'll have to do the best on our plots. Nonetheless I think we'll do the best even on our own land.
One thing that has happened to me is that I started the course with a lot of ideas and everytime something new came from the lessons, I started out thinking about the possibility to put it in my design, or visualise it in my design. You eventually loose all this while weeks pass by. I've stopped from at least the third to think about my land, and now look at, or thin of, different settings.
Ok, let me just try to make you understand what the bigger picture of this course is like. We've finished week five, climate, and are getting into week six, trees, and the things are getting serious even in the discussions we start aroud the most diverse topics. Well I already wrote about the forums, and now, nearly half way through we are getting to have 147 topics with a global comment rate that is at 1442! yes these are the numbers we're putting forward: 1442 comments on 147 topics! and I'm not counting the comments under the video's of our lessons. I can't imagine the numbers there.
