Well its been sometime since I finished my PDC and I'm waiting to start to implement my design. I've been thinking a lot of what we can do after a PDC. The possibilities are very diverse. Some of my friends have started practicing what they learned, some keep on studying, others are following probably one of the hundred other paths that are possible.
I decided to do something that would keep me in contact with fellow permaculture practitioners, a long with reading and creating a web of relations.
So I went to help out on a residential PDC as cook and logistics hand. This is one great possibility. Yes you may not follow lessons, but you have the opportunity to discuss issues, express your thoughts, learn when eating together and in the evening sessions, and apply of course the ethic of people care. I stayed at a friends farm for two days not having anymore holidays due to other future scheduled things. I helped out in the kitchen assuring food for 40 people with some great new friends, and then cared about all the parallel things that come with a residental PDC. It was awesome and I'm glad these firends gave me this opportunity. You learn so much even cooking and assuring those that are there to learn to have a nice time.
I was in Tertulia Farm, near Florence, this is their website check it out:
And now? Well ideas never end and so I decided to undertake antoher challenge so I'm going to be the translator for their next course in october on food forests with Helder Valente and the New School Permaculture. This is a great opportuniy I will follow the course translating Helders knowledge and have a great opportunity to help others and strengthen my personal knowledge.
Sometimes we may have money issues so it can be difficult to attend courses, but there are so many possiblities to find alternative paths. Creativity is the answer.
These are two solutions and I thought they could be of some interest to others. Hope you find and share yours.
