(projects i'm involved in)
I’ve been developing a transdisciplinary skill set in ecological design since 2003. My work as consultant, designer, and researcher includes projects in ecological waste and water treatment, integrated mushroom production in intensive urban agriculture, and whole farm design.
Under the auspices of the Liberation Ecology Project, I’ve been developing curricula to help emerging designers connect the resources of the sustainability movement with the leadership of grassroots community projects.
I consult professionally as a permaculturist and agroecologist, conduct participatory research in ecological design as a graduate student, and teach as often as possible!
I took my PDC with Peter Bane and Gustavo Ramierez at Gaia Ecovillage, in Navarro, Argentina, in 2003. I subsequently apprenticed and student taught with Peter Bane for 4 months. I attended and student/guest taught at a PDC with Geoff Lawton in 2007. I received an MS in Agroecology from University of Vermont, and was recently awarded a James Baldwin Turner Fellowship to continue my graduate studies at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. The connections between healthy ecological systems and healthy social systems are the driving passion of my life and my work.
I've just launched a web survey that is part of a larger, multi-year permaculture research project. I'm reaching out to key players in the permaculture movement (mostly in the English-speaking world, for now) to ask for a little support in promoting the
Looking for NGOs partners to evaluate the impact of permaculture on small farmers
Permaculture is a social movement, a body of socioecological theory, a design framework, and a set of practices. Nobody knows how big it is. No one knows how to measure the social impacts of the ecological impacts. With your help, I'm going to try.
