The first UK workshop on Liberation Permaculture was held at the Reclaim the Fields Gathering this weekend.
A small talk was given to introduce permaculture followed by some analysis about how design can be used to create social change. We talked about the limitations of design and the need to be acutely aware of oppressive practices otherwise we are at risk of perpetuating them.
It was then opened up and a fantastic and inspiring discussion took place about how to make permaculture more accessible to everyone, how there is no need to separate permaculture and 'activism' - they can be used together, simultaneously for multiple yields!
We heard some great feedback from projects, literally living the above such as Grow Heathrow in London. New connections have emerged, with a potential free introduction to permaculture weekend happening at a squatted space in Bristol with the opportunity to design their garden. Please see here for the handout from the day.
