so here s a look at the swales now

Posted by francine chanover about 11 years ago

after a few weeks of hard physical work and much planning

I have included preparation pics as well as pictures of progress as we go.Since these pics we have planted lots of green manure. Some vetiver and lemon grass to hold the swales and many plants. we ve had one rain shower :(  . pretty sad considering it is our best rainy month and I geard up by adding 4 new tanks and a new roof. thus adding 20000 litres of extra rain we would have caught had it rained this great usually rainy month.........

Anyway when we did get 12 mm the water caught from the berms on the road added 2 feet of water into the swales,,, and layed about for 3 days in the swales just hainging there looking like wet puddles and the swales stayed moist for 5 days.. pretty exciting..

So there s still a lot to do and so we will add pictures and more information about the progress of the property.
