Composting Toilet & Gray Water System Workshop 14-15/09/13

In this intensive 2 day course you will learn the principles of nutrient cycling, water conservation and waste water management through the on site construction of a Farralone composting toilet and adjoining gray water system. The course will take place o

 

The course runs from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday the 14th of September and Sunday the 15th of September, with two 10 minute coffee breaks and a one hour lunch break on both days. The course cost includes tea and coffee, biscuits, and vegetarian sandwiches for lunch. Shared accommodation at 20 Euros a night can be arranged at rental apartments only 10 minutes bus journey from the course venue, each equipped with a bathroom, living room and kitchen.

Course Instructor

Nicolas Netien is an environmental engineer specializing in waste management and sustainable community development.  He obtained his Permaculture Design Certificate in 2007 in New Zealand with Grifen Hope, Darren Doherty and Joe Polaischer as well as an internship with internationally renowned permaculture teacher and designer Geoff Lawton at Zaytuna Farm, Australia where he completed his teacher training course.  Nicolas lives in Cyprus and is the manager of Atsas Organic Farm.

The course will be run in English with translations of terms into Greek.

Atsas farm is organically certified and in transition into an agro ecology integrated system and a demonstration site. The farm is located 45 minutes drive/bus from Nicosia and 15 minutes from the mountain village of Kakopetria, just behind the village of Petra.
