Want a free copy of The Moneyless Man?

Posted by Richard Perkins about 11 years ago

Continuing on the theme of money for our free book giveaway we decided to gift a copy of our friend Mark Boyle's Moneyless Manifesto. Mark is an awesome writer and speaker who has dedicated many years to writing & talking about our relationships & embedd

Mark very kindly came as a guest speaker to a PDC we ran near Bristol, UK, back in 2012 and together with his partner Jess (who is also an awesome writer) is currently in the process of creating a fully localised, land-based gift economy in Éire which will demonstrate how all the ideas and practical solutions described in The Moneyless Manifesto can be integrated into one holistic system design.

"The revolution before us is only worth joining if it goes to the depths that Mark has explored . . . it is my hope that this book will deepen its readers’ belief in the possibility of such a world." Charles Eisenstein, author of Sacred Economics

Mark and his publishers, Permanent Publications, are also offering this book free online but we thought some folks might like the chance to get their hands on a copy.  Mark explains why he is offering a digital copy of the book freely;

"First, the ideas and practical tools contained within it should be free to whoever may find them useful, and not made falsely scarce by the mechanisms of the monetary economy.  Second, just as actions display our beliefs more honestly than our words, the ways in which ideas and practical tools are shared are at least as important as the words themselves. I wanted the medium to be fully aligned with the message.  Third, I wanted to release it under a Creative Commons licence because it felt fraudulent to have my name on the front of this book. As I said in the acknowledgements page of my last book, what are my words but “an accumulation of all that has come before them – the people I have met, the books I have read, the songs I grew up with, the rivers I’ve swam in, the girls I’ve kissed, the movies I’ve watched, the traditions I’ve learned, the philosophers I’ve studied, the mistakes I’ve made, the violence I’ve seen, the love I’ve witnessed.”  The ideas in this book could be no more mine than the piece of the Earth I inhabit."

We really appreciate the integrity behind Mark's and Permanent Publications work.  You can also buy your own copy through Mark's website.  Money is a sticky subject for a lot of people, and we totally support people empowering their relationship to different forms of capital, whatever that looks like!

Want to get a copy of this awesome book?  Comment here on how you think you would benefit from a copy and we will pick a lucky winner at the end of the week (20th Dec) and post you a copy.  Ridgedale PERMACULTURE be giving away awesome books every fortnight- sign up here to our customizable newsletter for details and updates you want about all aspects of regenerative design.
