The bio from a recent course I taught:
Hunter Heaivilin grew up in Hawaii where he has been a student of tropical forest ecosystems and agroforestry management an is an avid learner. He completed his PDC in 2007 with Steve Read of L'Universite Populaire de Permaculture and has been hooked on learning and teaching Permaculture ever since.
Hunter has been teaching with the Kokua Hawaii Foundation's 'AINA In Schools' school garden program and also with their 3R's Program focusing on solid waste management. He is also a teacher and Permaculture Coordinator with the Green House, an urban educational model for sustainable living in Honolulu. Through the Green House he has taught all ages (no centenarians yet), with a focus on sustainability orientated youth programs and Permaculture related adult workshops.
He is one of the partners of Pono Permaculture, a Permaculture consultancy and planning team. Through Pono Permaculture, he has designed for projects ranging from the Institute for Human Services urban farm project to homesteads and urban gardens around the islands and abroad. He has also worked internationally in Peruvian Andes and regularly in Haiti.
