This year I've had many exciting opportunities to take my knowledge of permaculture, ecology nad botany all over the states, teaching workshops in Colorado, Pamama, Hawaii, and Florida. I'm excited for my next project in West Palm Beach, FL where me and my friends Drew Wilkinson and Elizabeth Dunne will be teaching a one-day Introduction to Permaculture Workshop and then doing a Permablitz proect the next day. I've been propagating some plants for the activity in my plant nursery including some moringa, chaya, edible hibiscus, cranberry hibiscus, pigeon pea, spanish tarragon, okinowan spinach, lemongrass, and a bunch more:) Heres more details, Join us and help spread the word!
Introduction to Permaculture Workshop
Saturday December 1st 9am to 5pm
@ Wilkinson Homestead
166 Martin Circle West Palm Beach, FL 33411
Cost: $75 per person, lunch included
Join us for an introduction and interactive experience to learn about permaculture with permaculture designers Drew Wilkinson and Tia Meer. Permaculture is about creating sustainable human communities by following nature's patterns. Permaculture methods can be applied now, whether you are gardening, running a business, or building your own home. The morning session will cover ethics, principals, site survey, and site design. In the afternoon we will get our hands dirty and put permaculture into practice with a few simple projects. RSVP to Drew Wilkinson at 808-291-8219 or email [email protected].
West Palm Beach Permablitz
Sunday December 2nd 9am to 4pm
@ Wilkinson Homestead
166 Martin Circle West Palm Beach, FL 33411
Free! Bring a potluck dish for lunch
The permaculture awesomeness will continue Sunday, December 2nd from 9am to 4pm as we will hold a permablitz at the Wilkinson homestead. This is an event where we combine permaculture and “blitz” meaning lightning or a focused application of energy to someone’s landscape. This is a FREE event, open to the public, where people gather to make a big impact in a small amount of time. Join us to help create new edible garden spaces, plant fruit trees, share skills, build community networks and have fun! We especially welcome first time gardeners. Bring a potluck dish for lunch. RSVP to Drew Wilkinson at 808-291-8219 or email [email protected].
Drew Wilkinson grew up in Florida with a love for nature doing activities like surfing, canoeing, fishing, and yoga. He graduated Florida State University with a Biological/Earth Science Education degree and then went on to teach high school Environmental Science for 2 years. He has worked for several summer camps teaching environmental education and volunteer programs throughout the Southeast and Hawaii. He currently lives on the North Shore of Oahu where he leads Eco-Kayak tours and follows his passion for a healthy lifestyle. During the summer of 2012, Drew created a 9 week gardening workshop called “Growing Together” with the mission of teaching basic gardening skills, building community relationships over local food, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The group is still active and Drew continues to organize Permablitzes and share/trade gatherings. He completed his Permaculture Design course in August 2012 and now has a fiery passion to apply his teaching skills wholeheartedly into spreading Permaculture to the world.
