So my permaculture journey continues and I am now in Australia! Its been a magical place so far. Me and my travel companion are staying with some friends in Mullumbimby, a small town somewhat near Byron Bay. So far I've seen a cocoburra bird, a bunch of flying fox bats, and a water dragon! Went surfing and kayaking on the Brunswick River. The climate here is subtropical, kinda like Florida. Lots of similar plants including banana, papaya, pigeon pea, guava, suriname cherry, lemongrass, galangal or Thai Ginger, bamboo and more. The most notable thing in my botany study here is that there are over 900 species of Eucalyptis trees here, or Eucaylpts, as Aussies call them. Today was my first day of class in the Teacher Training Program with Geoff Lawton. He's a great teacher and there are people here fromm all over the world!
